After completing his law studies in 1994, Maurice left to do a 12-month volunteer stint at Casa Alianza Honduras as a street educator, after seeing a report on RTS. He was convinced of the importance of Casa Alianza’s work and that each of us can play a role in our own way. He ended up staying in the region for five years, working for the regional office in Costa Rica and launching Casa Alianza in Nicaragua.
One day, Maurice called his friends in Geneva to suggest organizing a fundraising event to support the creation of the first Scout group made up of street children at Casa Alianza Honduras. This group of friends then organized a marathon and raised over 20,000 CHF. They decided not to stop there and, in 1998, founded Casa Alianza Switzerland, with the goal of raising funds to support the four Casa Alianza branches in the field.
Ever since then, Maurice has held the organization close to his heart, and we thank him for this—so that we never forget that he was the spark that gave birth to Casa Alianza Switzerland.
