Honorary Member
In 1997, at the age of 24, Eliane was part of a group of friends from the Geneva Scouts who organized a sponsored triathlon to raise funds for Casa Alianza Honduras, spearheaded by Maurice Machenbaum. Following the event’s success, a committee was formed, and Eliane joined the board of the newly established organization: Casa Alianza Switzerland.
In 2000, she decided to get to know her native country and her mother’s homeland better by volunteering at Casa Alianza Guatemala. In 2001, she was offered the position of volunteer coordinator, and it was through her efforts that several Swiss volunteers were recruited. All of them would later become part of the “Casa Alianza family” in Geneva.
Upon her return to Switzerland in 2005, Eliane rejoined the board of Casa Alianza Switzerland to continue finding all sorts of ways to raise public awareness about children’s issues and Central America: creating and selling a CD featuring Swiss musicians, participating in film festivals (focusing on human rights and Latin America), setting up booths, and organizing various cultural events… her imagination is always in full swing.
Eliane served as president of the Casa Alianza Switzerland board from 2012 to 2016, before stepping down to spend another chapter of her life in Guatemala.
It was during a courtesy visit to Switzerland in June 2021 that Eliane was elected an honorary member of Casa Alianza, in recognition of her many years of dedication to the organization.
