Philippe Vollenweider

Honorary Member

In 1997, Philippe answered a call from his friend Maurice Machenbaum and, together with a group of Scouts, organized a sports fundraising event. In a single afternoon, nearly CHF 20,000 was raised thanks to the participants and their sponsors. This first initiative helped support the creation of the very first Scout troop made up of street children at Casa Alianza Honduras.

Shortly thereafter, Casa Alianza Switzerland was founded by a small group of friends—mostly former Scouts—driven by the conviction that they could make a tangible difference in the lives of the young people at Casa Alianza. The association grew rapidly and became more professional. Among the founders, Philippe is the one who has served the longest, sitting on the board from 1997 to 2021. He has contributed in many areas: managing the newsletter, organizing exhibitions, creating communication materials, IT maintenance, and managing the website and database. In 2016, he was elected president of the organization.

In April 2024, in recognition of nearly three decades of dedication to Casa Alianza and vulnerable children in Latin America, Philippe Vollenweider was elected an honorary member by the association and its members.
